Meet Randy Near

Randy is a Northwest native, raised on the Kitsap Peninsula, currently residing in the Lofall area of the Hood Canal. Randy’s job as a deckhand on the Alaskan scow F/V Evelyn S. inspired his love of wooden boats, which he spent ten years repairing and restoring after pursuing a degree in boat building. Randy’s skill in yacht repair helped him transition into home construction, and renovation; he, his wife, and first son Liam, moved to Australia where he started a construction business. For six years Randy built and renovated homes down under, and the Near family grew to include their second son, Charlie, before moving back to the Northwest in 2006. Once back in the Northwest, Randy founded Visible Changes Home Improvements, which specialized in kitchen and bathroom remodels.

More than 25 years of professional experience have established Randy as a thoughtful, and detail oriented home inspector.

My fiancé and I recently submitted a bid on a home in the Everett area and our realtor recommended Randy Near, with Asgard Inspections, to perform the buyer’s inspection. Working on a short turn around, Randy scheduled us in a few days of notice. I was thoroughly impressed with how well he knew his material. He walked me through the property taking pictures, answering questions. Later, that same day, we were presented with a detailed summary as well as a collection of photos of each area under concern, such as attic and crawl space shots. As the result of his feedback, we were able to make an informed decision, providing a level of comfort regarding the property we intended to buy. His fees were also reasonable.
